I was fortunate to be able to travel and meet up with Tim and Susan Foltz at Holmes County State Park Durant Mississippi for the 10th Annual Shakin’ the Lake Cracker Box Invitational Race. Tim and Susan were set up like professionals and I came out there with only minimal equipment. Thanks to fellow boaters, I was able to complete in the Fast Electric class of Open 4S P Class, which is limited to 4 cell battery at 5000mA. Tim was racing 3 classes of Thunder boat, Sport Hydro and Cat. Only one electric class was available. Tim was racing against some real talent to include but not limited to Carlo Catalanotto, Antron Brown, Tim Martin and others. Each class had 4 rounds of racing, so there was a lot of wheel time driving boats.

The MMBA race was a real treat and was basically ran by one man, thanks to Terence Walker. The club provided an excellent BBQ chicken and Jambalaya dinner thanks to Terrance and James from the Voodoo club. Tim received a trophy for third place in Gas Sport Hydro and Ted received a trophy for Open 4S P Fast Electric second place. We did bring home some well deserved “wood”. LOL - Ted Wachter -

ETRCBC News for July

Posted by Ted on July 27, 2011 at 3:37 PM Comments comments (0)

We are going to have a great weekend to run the bouys on July 30-31st and the practice is very good for all members.  Last boating weekend on July 16 was Kenneth, Tommy, Marc, Donnie, Ronnie, Ted and Ed spent some time driving.  Ed will have to get a Mini sized boat to fit in the bags on his motorcycle.  The overall driving skills of our club are improving and soon we will be able to have multi-boat heat racing.  It was a very easy decision that Donnie was crowned the "King of the Pond" that day with the impressive performance of his "Whip-Crash".  The boat was fast and handled very well.  After the boating on noon, we all went ate some of Henderson's BBQ and boy was that good.  The fellowship was also great and a cool off from the summer Texas heat.

Hope to see many of the members out at the pond and remember to bring out a friend to stir some future interests.  Safe boating.

The Buoys are Set, YAHOO!!

Thanks to the hard and hot work by Kenneth Koehn, the race course setup has been completed.  Way to go Kenneth.  Also there are now a launch and retrieve area (2 steps) available to assist in safely launching and retrival of boats without getting stuck in the mud bank of the pond.

Saturday had a turnout of Kenneth, Tommy, Ginger, Mike K. Ted and his family.  The water was like glass and the electrics made a few passes until one of them hit the concrete tile on the far side of the lake.  The gassers were running great, but as noon time rolled around we gave into the heat.  A fun time was had by all.

The next major gathering will be the July 4th weekend, to be determined by the southern boys.

Kenneth's daughter videoed the run off with her i-phone and put it up on you-tube==kk racing rio.  In the typical Texas summer fashion it was hot and humid , but Kenneths group had a great time.   8)CONGRATULATIONS TO KENNETH FOR BRINGING HOME SOME WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Club Boating Saturday May 21st

Club members, Mike Kimling, Donnie Ridgeway, Tommy Haynes and Ted Wachter met at the Henderson Pond Saturday May 21st for a regular scheduled boating activity.   The wind blew like the dickens, but that did not keep the die hards out of the water.  Mike and Donnie ran many of their gas boats without any events.  It is hard to tell who was the King of Pond this weekend.  Don't know if the 26 mod motors, 28.5's or the QD are the fastest under this weekends conditions.  Tommy and Ted ran FE (fast electrics) and made a presentation to a new potential member Marc Amick and his son.  A BIG WELCOME TO THEM!!    The Amicks have interests in the electric ranks (Aquacraft UL-1) (due to being already vested in electric buggies).  We as a club would sure welcome new members to make a full class for future racing.  I am hoping for a good turn out of Whiplash's and maybe I will complete my Backlash for next weekend.  We will have some pictures next meeting, as I plan to have a camera ready to go June 4th weekend.

Safe boating,

Boating in Henderson

Posted by Ted on April 15, 2011 at 3:09 PM Comments comments (0)

Four active boaters attended a club function at Lake Forest Park in Henderson. Donnie, Tommy, Al and Ted were boating and Ed was in the cheering section.   Donnie was the first out on the water with his Whiplash and just when things were starting to come "alive" he dead centered the turn 4-6  PVC pin.  The damage was bad but the boat will be fixable.  Donnie made a good showing with the remainder of his mono "Hurricane" fleet.  I ran my wooden whip and it ran good with the exception of some water injestion during hard turns.  I will have to add a water diffuser similar to the one on Donnies Whip.  Al brought out his new .018 JAE rigger and we did get things going, but not a sucessful long term run.  Since it is a new build, there will have to be some adjustments including a less aggressive prop.  Tommy was running his UL-1 FE boat and during the last few laps he glanced off of the 1-3 PVC pin and ended up centering the boat.   The damage was major but may be repairable, he even bent the motor mount.  I was able to run my Aeromarine Mean Machine on 4S battery power and the boat performed quite well.  :D

Hope to see all of you out at the next boating event.  The wind was blowing, but that did not stop us from throwing in.  Hope to get the buoys set out soon as Kenneth is feeling better.

Safe Boating!

Called Kenneth and he is laid up with an foot operation and recovery.  He has hammer toes and they did a correction and installed rods to stabilize his toes to a straight position.  Kenneth will be out of pocket until the middle of April.  Every give him a call and wish him and his wife the best.  Lots of medical thing going on there.

We plan on boating out a the pond on April 10th Sunday.  We need to get a complete turnout in order to vote on the bi-laws and if you are not it attendance, you might get voted into one of our grand club positions.  Bring out your camera and take some new pictures for our website.

Give me a call or drop an email on your plans!

March Boating

Well the pond work has been completed and the pond is up to spillway levels and boating commenced March 26th.  Tommy, Ted were boating and Al came by with his new JAE rigger.  Nice build (all engine).  Ed Sidder s came by to visit on his new motor cycle.  Both of the new machines are real beauties (the boat and the bike).

The park looks real nice and we have to be careful not to drive or park out on the grass.  The city is trying to get the grass established.  We still have access to the "old road bed" and a key to the cable across the roadway.

I have gotten a report from member Ed Sidders that the pond dam and spillway restoration work activities are underway.  I am planning a trip this coming weekend to look first hand and maybe get some pictures of the work.  We need to get back to boating soon as many will need to practice- right turn - right turn.  I have heard some good reports of our club boating in Lufkin.  It sounds like there will be a lot of new boats at the pond this summer and ready to run.

News for January

Posted by Ted on January 19, 2011 at 5:29 PM Comments comments (0)

Earl and myself have taken a trip to Henderson January 15th and the lake level is NOT back to full elevation by as stated by the City Manager.  I have made a few attempt to get a recovery date from the City Manager and he has not currently responded as to when the siphon will be closed off and the lake permitted to reflood to normal levels.   At that time we will have to gather and get the bouys set as the end pins are still standing.  Thank goodness!!

Ed Sidders is doing great and will be back with us this year.  Donnie made me an offer that i could not refuse and he is now the proud owner of  Cory's old Purple Hurricane with the BJ custom engine.  Ronnie, if you need help to post on this website, just drop me a line.  Best to all and keep in touch on returning to Lake Forest Park.
